KPS future-proofs Abu Dhabi tower with carbon fibre reinforcement
KPS is reinforcing a tower in Abu Dhabi with advanced carbon fibre technology as part of an upgrade, strengthening the existing slab under the new gym to ensure long-term safety, performance, and sustainability.
At the heart of the project is the installation of carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP). This is a lightweight, corrosion-resistant material that delivers exceptional strength without the bulk of concrete or steel. CFRP allows for greater load capacity while reducing the need for heavy demolition or rebuilds, making it a smarter and more sustainable alternative to traditional reinforcement methods using steel or concrete.
“Carbon fibre reinforcement enables us to deliver structural resilience with minimal disruption and maximum efficiency,” said Stephen Taylor, KPS UAE Managing Director. “It’s an innovation that strengthens existing buildings while aligning with our ESG commitments and the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 goals.”
The project combines traditional concrete beam enlargement works with the precise installation of CFRP strips under the slab, carried out under rigorous health and safety protocols. This ensures the highest standards of quality while protecting workers and building users alike.
By integrating advanced reinforcement technology with responsible building practices, KPS continues to set benchmarks for sustainable construction across the UAE, strengthening not just buildings, but the future of construction itself.
